Trash Pickup

Please be aware that trash pickup in our area is restricted to household trash and garbage only. Furniture, appliances, construction debris, etc., will not be picked up and will likely remain for weeks for your neighbors to “enjoy”. These items will also represent a hazard for mowing and plowing crews.

Other Items

(1) Local agencies and charities will accept some items depending on condition and value. (2) Custer Township currently has two dates per year for drop off of larger items. Check with the Township office for dates and items accepted (231) 587-5118. (3) Local contractors can arrange to pick up items for disposal.

Trash Containers

We recommend containers with lids that close. There are many animals in the area that have been known to shred plastic garbage bags. If you are leaving the area and leave your trash container on the side of the road, don’t be surprised if it is gone when you come back. Strong winds will blow containers into the street or ditches. In winter, they can become “hood ornaments” for plow trucks. A much better choice is to take the trash with you and dispose of it properly.

Recycling Location

Antrim County Transportation (ACT) Building, M-88 Hwy., across from Shanty Creek Road. Bins are scheduled to be picked up on Mondays & Fridays.
