Summit Village was developed before walking paths came into vogue. Thus our roads serve the dual purpose of walking paths and auto roadways. Please be extra cautious and drive slowly in the community to avoid contact with pedestrians. Note that these precautions are even more critical in winter months when roads become narrower and stopping distances increase dramatically. Pedestrians continue to walk on our roads throughout the winter months!

  • Our roads have numerous tight curves and elevation changes making it impossible to see what’s coming.
  • Expect to encounter people walking (with or without their dogs), pushing strollers, and cycling on our roads.
  • It is easy to forget how much speed impacts the ability to avoid accidents. The following graphics are a rather grim reminder.
  • The few seconds you might save are just not worth the risk!

  • Snowmobiles and ORVs: Please refer to the links on the right side of this page for detailed information regarding Snowmobile and ORV trails, which are numerous in our area. SVA roads should be avoided with these vehicles.
  • Winter Road Conditions: Our community is in the Northern Michigan snow belt. It is entirely normal for us to receive snow on an almost daily basis in the winter months. Our roads have steep hills and tight curves. As snow accumulates, the width of roads and general visibility will decrease as snow banks grow larger. SVA’s snow removal contractor does an excellent job, but it is unreasonable to expect that our roads will be dry and snow-free during winter months. Please evaluate whether your vehicle is properly equipped (4-wheel drive, snow tires) before visiting in the winter months.
